The results published by the Examination Control Board are categorized into five different divisions according to their score:
Distinction - above 80%
First Division - 60% to 79.99%
Second Division - 45% to 59.99%
Third Division - 32% to 44.99%
A student scoring 32% passes the SLC exam. Although the pass percentage is low, more than half of the students taking he exam fail to score the pass mark.

SLC Result (Re-take) 2011 - 63.59% passed
The SLC participants who failed in one or two subjects are allowed to retake the exam.

Out of 122,473 examinees in the exam, 39,432 girls and 38,151 boys passed the exam.
